Bala water attraction joins forces with other activity centres

FOUR North Wales-based tourist attractions are launching a joint initiative to "rope in" visitors.

Get Wet in Bala, Llanberis-based Ropes & Ladders, Ropeworks of Pwllheli and Betws y Coed-based Tree Top Adventure – thought to attract 80,000 visitors a year between them – are collaborating on the venture.

Sean Taylor, of Tree Top Adventure, said the businesses, which offer visitors adventure activities including rope courses, had agreed to work together.

A total of 150,000 brochures with a map and details of the businesses are being produced: 65,000 will be distributed in the Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Stoke and Wolverhampton areas. The rest will be placed with North Wales Tourism for use across the region.

Mr Taylor said: "All four sites offer something different but it occurred to us that if someone visited one they could be interested in one or more of the others. It’s a good example of competitors working together and trying to increase business in the sector."
