University maths competition success for Bala pupils

BRAINIACS in one Bala school showed off their mastery of Maths recently by storming competitions held by two of the UK’s top universities.
Year 8 pupils from Ysgol y Berwyn proved they could do the numbers by winning a range of certificates in one contest, staged by the University of Leeds. Despite the difficulty of the challenge five pupils won bronze certificates, while Dewi Ballard won a silver for his efforts.
Meanwhile Gwenno Evans and Donna Griffiths were commended by Bangor University for their high standards in another maths competition, and a host of other students awarded merit certificates for their mathematical skills.
